Finally finished it. It was a good project in that it made me think. I found I was re-evaluating how I do my job and I think I'm a better teacher now. Here's the link to my project. This has been a valuable class.

I've created a pre-course survey to go with my final project course. Please check it out here: Cultural Diversity Pre-Course Survey. I created it on Zoomerang, which seemed easy enough to use right from the start.
This week we read about cybercoaching and constructivism. I fully agree with the idea of coaching. I wish I had more of an opportunity to do that with my f2f classes. I was more unsure about constructivism. I may need to do some more reading on it in order to really understand it and how to apply it. I did come across one website which simplified the concept: Constructivism as a Paradigm for Teaching and Learning. In theory I agree with it. With the current political environment concerning education, it may not be easy to implement, since ALL students are supposed to reach the same objectives and are tested in very traditional manner on those objectives. This week we worked on Bloom's taxonomy and creating objectives. From these objectives we will create assessments using tools we've learned about during the module. This has been interesting for me. I've found the taxonomy table to be useful when creating activities, knowing what I want the activity to accomplish and how it will be assess. It has also helped me sort out formative from summative assessments. Here's a link to my page with the table I created: Bloom's Taxonomy and Assessment Table
Well, I think we made it. It's not fancy, but it's about done. Whew! All three of us had busy weeks this week so I was a little concerned about the timeline. I think the topics we chose were interesting. I'm glad I chose the one I did (Web 2.0 Assessment). I still feel it's not the right tool for me -- it's missing email capability, which is essential for my needs, and I would really like discussion boards. For the K-12 environment, especially a blended environment, it seems perfect. Eric's topic, WebEx, is one I'm not that familiar with other than I've participated in online conferences and webinars before. I guess I never really paid attention to the software package being used. Now I will (lol). Patti's course management software seemed interesting, too. It's a much more complex program, integrating grading, report cards, and school records into it. (I wish my school wasn't married to Diamond D.) All in all, they are a collection of worthwhile programs to be added to my assessment toolbox. I look forward to reading what the rest of the class has come up with!
Here's the link to our Midterm I just came across a ScoopIt! page concerning digital badges. These are like Scouting merit badges that are awarded for demonstrating certain digital and business skills. Some have even questioned the need for a college diploma in light of these badges. It's an interesting idea and I'd like to read more about it.
