EDU762: Assessment in E-Learning
Tools and Ideas
Assessment is an area in which I have a lot of interest. How do you know if your students are learning? This course addressed both formative and summative assessment. In an online environment, assessment can be a challenge. There are issues such as the lack of being able to observe the student and cheating. Use of good formative activities can help give the instructor feedback as well as control cheating to some extent.
Another area we addressed was Bloom's Taxonomy and working backwards from assessment to objectives. First I decide what I want to the student to do and how will that be shown. From there I can write the objectives, assessments, then go on to write lessons and activities.
This is my second class in the E-learning and Online Teaching Certificate program. I'll be sharing some links to outside sources as well as some examples I use and create in the class.
Here's one: a link to the Authentic Assessment Toolbox - a very informative site for assessment and assessment tools. I strongly recommend it.
