EDUC763: Instructional Design
This course was one of my favorites. I enjoy instruction design in the traditional environment and now I've experienced it in the online environment. I created the basis for an online version of a course I teach in the classroom. It still needs a lot of work to tighten it up, but I was able to put together the basics: the syllabus; a course analysis to understand my population and needs; a layout of the course modules; a learning object; assessment; and best practices for inclusive design. I was excited as it all came together. The project starts HERE.
There were a couple of opportunities in the course to experience synchronous learning. I learned about the mechanics of the method, as well as the benefits and pitfalls. Scheduling is a big issue, followed by connectivity. When it worked, it worked well.
I was also lucky enough to intern with this class when my practicum came about. It was a wonderful experience. I got to see the course from the inside out.
